Fried savory pastry

with Kasseri cheeseand smoked ham

For the dough preparation process, see here.

Ingredients:

For 6 pieces

a dose of dough

Thin slices of Kasseri cheese (Kasseri cheese is a semi-hard Greek cheese with a mild, buttery taste)

Thin slices of smoked ham

See the sweet and savory variations you can make with fried honey/savory pastries here

Instructions:

Instead of cutting the dough into four strips, as mentioned in the "Traditional Fried Honey Pastries from Chania" recipe, we cut it once in the middle.

We take one sheet of dough and place the Kasseri cheese and the ham near the edge.

We fold the sheet so that they are covered, and press the edges firmly with our fingers to make sure they seal.

We leave the beginning and the end without Kasseri cheese and ham and press them well to seal the dough.

We cut all the edges with the dough cutter and fry it like the fried honey pastries.

Once we take it out, it is ready to serve.
